How to install Official Google Chrome themes

Google Chrome default skin is blue and there is no option in the browser to change the skin / theme. But Google provided to you a few themes that can be download free and apply easily. You don't have to copy here and paste there if you want to download and install Google Chrome official theme to your Chrome browser. Just go to https://tools.google.com/chrome/intl/en/themes/index.html , choose the theme you like and click the Apply theme button, the Save As dialog box will appear, choose where you want to download the .crx file, and click Save button. It will change your theme automatically and dramatically.

You just need to have Google Chrome version 3.0.195.6 and above, because it will not works to the older version. There are 29 themes to choose so far. The video below will show you how easy to Apply official theme to Google Chrome.

There is also another way to apply the unofficial Google Chrome theme to your browser, but that method is quite fussy and sometime is not working and the theme will go crazy. I prefer the official Google Chrome method even the theme is not that many.

How to change a YouTube video size in Blogger

blogger logoWhen we copy embedded code from YouTube video, the size is quite small. Maybe you want to resize it to look more bigger and clearer. Actually the standard small size is good for page loading. But sometimes, a bigger size is better for whom don't want to watch video in fullscreen and have better internet speed.

So below is a tutorial video about How to change a YouTube video size in Blogger. The steps are just simple, happy watching :)

I change the width from 425 to 525 and height from 344 to 444. The video width and height appear twice in the code so make sure you change both.

I added a <center> code, that is in case you want to make the video centered just like in this post. But make sure you close the code with </center>

Below is the original code from YouTube

<object width="425"
height="344"><param name="movie"
value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KBG54B9qDDk&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;"><param
name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess"
value="always"><embed
src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KBG54B9qDDk&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true" width="425"
height="344"></embed></object>

And this is the resized one and after added center code

<center>
<object width="525" height="444"><param name="movie"
value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KBG54B9qDDk&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;"><param
name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess"
value="always"><embed
src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KBG54B9qDDk&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true" width="525" height="444"></embed></object>
</center>

Good luck and all the best :)

How to create link open in a new window or tab

Blogging will always involve with links to another websites. You can insert link / hyperlink in Blogger blog post with highlight the text and click the Link button. But the default setting is the link that open in a same window. So when visitors click the link in your blog / website, they will move to the linked website and leave your blog. They must click Back button to go back to your blog. So if they surf many pages in the linked website, they must click many times to go back or they must find in the recent pages shortcut list to your blog.

So the better way to make your blog still in the visitors browser and keep them easy to go back to your blog again, is by putting the link that open in a new window / tab. I will show you how to do it in the silent tutorial video below ;)

Remember to add code target="blank" in a link code to make the link open in a new window / tab. Try it and see the difference. I wish you good luck and all the best :)

How to put RSS feed in Google Desktop Sidebar

There is a cooler way to use RSS feed and receiving latest updates faster and easier. You can just see the updates on your desktop (in the sidebar) without opening the web browser. Watch the silent tutorial below :D

There are many more cool features in Google sidebar. I will try to make a demo video about it. But for those who like to always change the skin, the bad news is Google Desktop can only be skinned programatically and there is no option in the program itself, not like a few other desktop sidebars that have many skins to choose from. But the default appearance of Google sidebar is quite interesting and it is easier to use. Google only concentrate on RSS and News, and I personally like Google sidebar because of this.

Till then, take care and all the best :)

How to adjust size and quality of photo thumbnail in Blogger's blog post

Blog post is more interesting with photos or videos. I'm here now to explain about how to adjust photo thumbnail in Blogger blog post. I created a video as shown below to show you how to do it. You don't have to go to Picasaweb to copy codes of thumbnails and so on. Just do it in your blog post editor in Blogger, as simple as that.

How to change image size

As shown in the video, to change the image size you must change the code value of the width, so the height size will automatically change too - constrained proportions. But if you don't want the thumbnail to be constrained proportions, adjust both of them according to size that you want.

How to adjust the quality

To adjust the quality, eg. if you want higher quality to the thumbnail, make sure you raise up the source image of thumbnail code value bigger than the thumbnail in your blog post. In my case here, I want the thumbnail in my blog with 550 width. So i raise up s400 value to s640, as 640 is bigger than 550 :D

That is just an example, but if you want to make it of more quality, use s800 or if you want to make it optimal for page loading, just use s640 like I did here for a 550 width thumbnail. But if you don't mind about quality, and want faster loading, just use s400.

s - denotes size

The list of sizes that can be used

- s200
- s400
- s640
- s800
- s1024
- s1600

And thanx to my friend Bharat that gave a few more sizes that support :D

s160, s320 and s1280

Below is the comparison of image quality, by using same size

s400

s640

Happy blogging, all the best :)

How to record a video of desktop without a camera

There are many tutorial videos on Youtube that shown us an interactivity on a desktop. Do you think they use a camera for that? Actually we don't have to use a camera to record a video of our desktop. There is a really easy way to do it.

First go to http://camstudio.org , and download the file named CamStudio20.exe. Scroll down the page and you will see the link. It is an open source software and absolutely free. After download, install it and run the program. Click and download also CamStudioCodec14.exe if you want the lossless quality codec.

Press the RECORD button to start recording. Watch the short video below ;

In that video, i start recording by pressing a RECORD button. Then i play with my mouse here and there. It means that it is a time you do what you want on your desktop to record it. When finish doing your job, press the STOP button. The program will ask you where do you want to save the AVI format file. Name the file and save at your desired destination. That's all the process, how simple is that.

To change your view size, try Region menu. You can set different region view, fixed region or fullscreen. Remember to download  CamStudioCodec14.exe also if you want a quality video. Then you can use the codec by choosing menu  Options - Video Options - Compressor.

You must know, the program will save the file in AVI format. And it is still quite big in size even though you choosed the compressor. For me, i compress the file later in whether Any Video Converter or DrDivX , to save hard disk space and faster file transfer via internet. I also cut and remove the part that i don't want just using Any Video Converter by setting the Start and Stop time at Output Duration section. Any Video Converter can convert and cut a video at once. But it can only cut at the beginning and the end of the video only. And for the watermark and effects i use Adobe After Effect.

I wish you good luck and all the best. Happy recording :)
