Chinese International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival

The Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, an annual event in northern China now in its 26th year, since 1963, pulls crowds from across China overseas, drawn to the unique visions of an international roster of sculptors who illuminate their creations with multicolored electric lights encased in the translucent ice.

Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province of People’s Republic of China, is one of the sources of ice and snow culture in the world. Geographically, it is located in Northeast China under the direct influence of the cold winter wind from Siberia.
