Giant rat found in isolated area

A giant rat and a tiny possum (new to science) are discovered by researchers in remote jungle in Indonesia. Further study will be held to confirm to confirm their status. The animals were found previously in a June expedition in the Foja mountains rainforest in eastern Papua province, which organized the trip along with the Indonesian Institute of Science.

"The giant rat is about five times the size of a typical city rat," said Kristofer Helgen, a scientist with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. "With no fear of humans, it apparently came into the camp several times during the trip."

While the possum was described as one of the world's smallest marsupials.

Foja area was so isolated that it remains the absolute realm of wild nature. You can see from the picture of how big the rat is. Do you ever see a rat with that size before?
